Is the Global Warming "consensus" an example of an "information cascade"?

Jonathan Tierney's New York Times-based blog (Tierney Lab) discusses a very interesting human behavior that economists describe as Informational Cascades.

Information Cascades can be summed up as going along with a group's consensus; an evolutionary two-edged sword behavior.

Commentor Sissy Willis observes:
Al Gore and his “Inconvenient Truth” are a classic of both informational and reputational cascades:

To stop them? Bloggers of the world, unite!
Ms. Willis' referenced post provides both healthy skepticism and analysis in support of her assertion.

Update: Commentor PopTech is maintaining a list of non-consensus scientists.
