Is the Global Warming "consensus" an example of an "information cascade"?

Jonathan Tierney's New York Times-based blog (Tierney Lab) discusses a very interesting human behavior that economists describe as Informational Cascades.

Information Cascades can be summed up as going along with a group's consensus; an evolutionary two-edged sword behavior.
