Cincinnati Enquirer has searchable Pork Barrel database

"Who's bringing home the bacon?" in today's Enquirer has a link to a database which details the pork barrel being requested by local politicians.

Here's Congresswoman Schmidt's listing for a total of $2.5 million in pork requests:

  • $240,000.00 OH Police Department Records Management Project
  • $100,000.00 Hamilton County, OH Reentry Project
  • $550,000.00 Ohio Environmental Infrastructure, OH: Perry Township
  • $400,000.00 Ohio Environmental Infrastructure, OH: Williamsburg Water Treatment Plant, Ohio
  • $250,000.00 Shawnee State University for an Immersive Technology and Arts Center
  • $300,000.00 Talbert House, Cincinnati, OH for a substance abuse treatment program
  • $250,000.00 Eastgate Area Improvements
  • $200,000.00 Mehring Way Street Grid East
  • $100,000.00 John P. Parker Historical Society for refinement of site investigations and improvements for the John P. Parker residence
  • $75,000.00 Ohio Rail Development Commission for rehabilitation of an industrial building
  • $50,000.00 Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Black Brigade Fund for construction of a monument to commemorate the Black Brigade of Cincinnati

If in fact these projects are priorities for Ohio, they could easily be handled with state tax dollars, not federal dollars that are sent to Washington...federal dollars which the beltway bureaucracy extracts a toll on before the money makes a round-trip back to where it originated from.
