Des Moines Register editorial on Katrina cruise ship contract

...According to a joint statement issued by Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), a Senate investigation found that equaled $2,550 per week, per evacuee. That’s “four times the amount a vacation cruise passenger would have to pay,” according to the statement.

To rub saltwater in the wound, those cruise lines aren’t even full now. Greece offered to give the United States free cruise ships, but the U.S. government didn’t accept them...
