Media are presumptive on DeWine-Hackett matchup (Updated and Corrected)
The Cincinnati Enquirer, The Toledo Blade and other media outlets are reporting that Paul Hackett will challenge Senator Mike Dewine in 2006.
It's presumptive to think that Mike DeWine has a lock on the Republican primary process.
DeWine is the same senator that was part of the 'Gang of 14' and more recently voted against an amendment to limit pork earmarks in a Senate bill.
A primary challenge is already set against DeWine [see update/correction below] which may open the door further for someone like former Congressman John Kasich; who was recently being urged to consider a run for Governor.
DeWine has to answer to his party before he gets to take on Hackett.
Update/Correction: Good thing Porkopolis put up a post just yesterday on a self-imposed standard of accuracy and an open invitation to 'call me out' on inaccurate information.
Fellow regional area blogger BizzyBlog does just that in the comments section by pointing out that:
Take that Enquirer, as proof of the self-correcting nature of the blogsphere.
Personal note to BizzyBlog: Thanks and it's almost like we planned it out that way just to show up folks like, say....The New York Times.

John Hritz, former executive of AK Steel Corp., has decided to run against State Treasurer Jennette Bradley rather than U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine.as noted in this Bizjournal piece.
