Congresswoman Schmidt's support of H.R. 4089 is a good move

Project Logic reports that Schmidt co-sponsors H.R.4089 (Government Credit Card Sunshine Act):

H.R. 4089 is a bill that will make it easier to keep an eye on government spending, by requiring departments and agencies to publicly list the purchases made with government credit cards.

The appropriate entities will have 15 days after a receipt is issued to make public a list of purchases made, and the amount of each purchase. Maybe if the nation is able to review their checkbooks, federal employees will put a little more thought into how they spend our money...
This is a good government accountability move that will allow watch dog sites like Citizen Against Government Waste, Porkbusters, and Porkopolis to analyze spending trends. The provision should not be limited to credit card transactions, but all transactions; checks, purchase orders, etc.

(Sarcasm alert)
And surely this is going to apply to Congressional offices as well........

If enacted, here's one prediction on what we will find in the data: Government departments start a spending spreee at the end of a budget cycle to deplete their alloted budget in a 'use it or lose it' frenzy.
