Begging for Highway Dollars

This Enquirer article (2nd District rep to get plenty of calls for roads) details some of the politicing for dollars that goes on to get a piece of the federal highway dollars.

Things would be a lot simpler if Ohio was able to keep the over $956 million in federal gasoline tax ($0.184 per gallon federal gas tax X 5,197,093,204 gallons) we send to Washington annualy right here at home. Then we wouldn't have to go begging Congress to send it back home.

Then again, why do something simple when you can build a bureaucracy instead.
