Three new nuclear plants planned in the U.S.

U.S. Utilities Move Ahead with Plans for Three Nuclear Plants:

The U.S. utility industry announced plans on September 22nd to prepare license applications to build nuclear reactors at three sites in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. NuStart Energy Development LLC, a consortium of utilities and nuclear energy suppliers, announced that it would develop construction and operating license applications for two sites: the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, owned by Entergy and located near Port Gibson, Mississippi; and the Bellefonte Nuclear Plant, owned by the Tennessee Valley Authority and located near Scottsboro, Alabama. On the same day, Entergy announced separate plans to apply for a license at a site adjacent to its existing River Bend Station near Baton Rouge, Louisiana. So far, none of the utilities have committed to actually building a nuclear plant...
