Update on Pork in Portsmouth

Pork in Portsmouth

Professor Robert Forrey kindly responded to my inquiry on his post regarding Congressman Portman and his delivering of $300, 000 to the Portsmouth Mural, Inc.

He writes:

The date for the Portsmouth Daily Times article on Portman personally delivering $300,000 to Portsmouth Murals Inc. is Oct. 21, 2004. Reporter was Anna Mallory, whose email address is anna [at] (ed. I removed the hyperlink to Ms. Mallory's email address to minimize the chance of email web-spiders from scanning her email from this web-site)

I've checked the archieves of the Portsmouth Daily Times and haven't found the article yet. So I've written to Ms. Mallory asking for her assitance.

The Portsmouth Daily Times report (Oct 21, 2004)on the public funding of Portsmouth's Welcome Center contained another ironic bit of information. Then Rep. Porkman had helped a local heating and airconditioning businessman Dave Glenn expand into defense contracting. Glenn built a new high tech plant near his old one. "This is really a microcosm of what needs to happen here in Ohio," Portman said about Glenn's new business. In no time at all, Glenn's new business went bankrupt and his new plant stands empty with weeds growing up around it. Where formerly there was one viable business, there are now two empty buildings.
