The Portsmouth Daily Times report (Oct 21, 2004)on the public funding of Portsmouth's Welcome Center contained another ironic bit of information. Then Rep. Porkman had helped a local heating and airconditioning businessman Dave Glenn expand into defense contracting. Glenn built a new high tech plant near his old one. "This is really a microcosm of what needs to happen here in Ohio," Portman said about Glenn's new business. In no time at all, Glenn's new business went bankrupt and his new plant stands empty with weeds growing up around it. Where formerly there was one viable business, there are now two empty buildings.
