Must Watch TV: Cato's Alan Reynolds on C-SPAN's Washington Journal
Senior Cato Fellow Alan Reynolds was the second guest on this morning's Washington Journal (RealMedia video starts at about 02:03:30).
Mr. Reynolds addressed the general theme detailed in his December 14, 2007 Wall Street Journal Op-Ed 'The Top 1% . . . of What?' (subscription only, but review of it can be found here).
He takes issue with Virginia's Democratic Senator-elect Jim Webb complaint that of an "ever-widening divide" in America, claiming "the top 1 percent now takes in an astounding 16 percent of national income, up from 8 percent in 1980." Reynolds uses the rare Washington currency of facts to debunk Mr. Webb's claims.
Mr. Reynolds also discusses several libertarian themes, Social Security, welfare policy and public debt.
