How hard could it have been for the Ohio Elections Commission to check out the frivolous claim against Jean Schmidt?

Correction: The search site noted below shows race results for 2003 not 1993. Email sent to Online Race Results requesting information for 1993. [See Update]

The Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting that the Ohio Election Commission is investigating a possible false claim by Jean Schmidt in her campaign material. Independent candidate Nathan Noy is claiming she made false statments about her participation in the 1993 Columbus Marathon. Nathan Noy's claim is:

...Schmidt never ran the 1993 race and even fabricated her finish line photo and time.
With less than 4 clicks of the mouse, they could have gone to the Online Race Results site (linked from the Columbus Marathon site) and reviewed the following information verifying Congresswoman Schmidt's claim (click on images to enlarge):

The 7th entry down on the search result clearly states that Jean Schmidt, ran the Columbus Marathon on 10/29/03. She placed 1,468 in a time of 3:56:06.

I'm guessing that the pic you show is the one where Noy claims there is no shadow of Schmidt.

Wrong. Look at the shadow of the SECOND guy behind her. His shadow ends at Jean's head.

Now look at the guy right behind Jean. Considering the shadow of the person behind him, it's reasonable to conclude that his shadow ends behind Jean and is not visible.

Therefore the shadow to the right of Jean is HERS. The arms of that shadow "seem" closer together than they "should" be, because of the angle of the sun.

I can't bleeping believe we're dealing with this and that the OEC can't see what I just explained.

Schmidt did cast a shadow that day, but her shadow is not shown in that picture, because it is obscured (along with much of Schmidt's lower half) by the runner in front of her. See my illustration here for full understanding.

For the love of St. Peter in chains...can someone forward this to the OEC so they can get to some real work? All thats going on in Ohio and they are wasting time on this - the newest Dinkman & Pinney brain child. I guess Nate is what that child would look like, so substitute "dork" for "brain." They have made a laughing stock out of this group (OEC).

It's difficult for me to believe that all this crap is going on. Nate "Portnoy's Complaint" Noy's complaint is one that's gonna get him nailed to a fencepost next month by an irate OEC, which must be getting kinda bent outta shape at all these COAST-inspired shenanigans. Then he'll begin to understand why it's not a good idea to hitch your wagon to the COAST clown caravan. I am currently re-evaluating my support for Heimlich, because I think he's become a member of the COAST clown crusade as well. This is TNP writing.

TNP, you're not alone. I know quite a few who are re-thinking their support for Heimlich.
